Glasgow derby postponed because death of O'Donnell

The Scottish Premier League match between Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers was postponed Monday following the death of Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell over the weekend. Motherwell's next two games had already been called off, but Celtic asked for Wednesday's match to be rescheduled out of respect for its former player.

The 35-year-old midfielder died Saturday after collapsing during his team's 5-3 win over Dundee United. O'Donnell, who started his career at Motherwell before stints with Celtic and Sheffield, was about to be substituted at Fir Park against Dundee United but collapsed before he could leave the field. He was treated on the field for about five minutes before being carried by stretcher to an ambulance and taken to the hospital. The club later announced his death.
