Crouch strikes late to rescue Liverpool
Peter Crouch's late strike earned Liverpool FC a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa FC as Rafael Benítez's side recovered from 2-1 down to claim a point at Anfield. Crouch, who had come on as a substitute in the 80th minute, hooked the ball beyond Stuart Taylor in the Villa goal with two minutes remaining to rescue a Reds team who have lost just once at home this season. The result takes both sides up a place in the Premier League with Liverpool now fifth and Villa sixth on goal difference at the expense of Manchester City FC, though Liverpool have played a game less.
